Log in for the first time, and you'll be presented with EVE Mobile ISK lore built on the center desktop EVE experience. EVE Echoes is set in its own different EVE world, for clear technical and narrative motives, but anybody familiar with the franchise will immediately feel at home because you start by trying to conserve an SOE ship from the get-go. Sadly, this action-packed opening in the depths of space doesn't go well for players, but thankfully you've obtained a clone. A fundamental tenet of the EVE world, cones may be a replacement for magic respawns but don't expect too much diversity once you develop your own.

Like many cellular games, EVE Echoes supplies some options for character creation but they're relatively restricted. Originally allowing players to select from among four factions, EVE Echoes thankfully slots players to either the Amarr, Gallente, Caldari, or Minmatar races with this opening gambit. While each of those four races available their very own flavor or citizens to select from during character creation, the effect of those early selections is somewhat restricted for new players. Each of the four races arrive with their very own history, detailed in a section of their narrative blurb, and also have slightly different technical skills. Beyond this, and most of all each race also offers a distinct aesthetic and set of bloodlines for the very first EVE Echoes clone.

Assuming you can select from the introduction four factions, then character creation provides somewhat bit more diversity with a selection of bloodlines for each player to select from. Every faction includes three default bloodlines, the consequence of every culture's history, and players can pick from a mixture of predetermined appearances in each. While this appears to be a big enough gene pool, I can not help but feel slightly underwhelmed by the lack of personal attachment this brings to the opening minutes of EVE Echoes. Possible capsuleers may be looking for something a little more interesting than a 2D avatar but EVE was never on the color of a pilot's own hair and when I could seem like an extra on Cyberpunk 2077 then will need to perform while I save up for an epic appearing fresh boat in this new world.

Thankfully, it's unlikely that new pilots may see this face for long as you are once again reborn and discover that, following the opening minutes of EVE Echoes, you've been discounted and then given a PLEX. From here on in it is your responsibility to catch your new ship and fly off into the unknown, losing days to mining planets and placing your work schedule at serious risk of failure. At least, that's what could happen after you get to know the new game. EVE Echoes might be inspired by, and require large swathes of Cheap EVE Echoes ISK the old desktop title to, the cellular screens but even old school gamers are going to need to get used to some modified interface.
